Re: replace failed disk in san

This question is far far away from being clear!

SAN is a network - disks are usually in an array or JBOD.

Some arrays have special procedures regarding disk replacements.

Nobody can advise you anything other than "read the appropriate documentation" based on the information you provided - sorry.

Hope this helps!

Re: replace failed disk in san

its a MSA1000

hp-ux is the OS.

Re: replace failed disk in san

Then is not just a JBOD, the MSA1000 has RAID controllers and presents logical units not disks to the hosts. If the disk is part of a RAID you just have to replace it, the MSA1000 controllers will rebuild the RAID. The OS will not notice anything.

Re: replace failed disk in san

... unless it is a RAID 0!

In this case you need to restore the data from your backup!

Hope this helps!
