replace failed disk in san
what are the steps to perform ?
the failed disk is not in any volume group.
i have to add the new one to the existing volume group.

SAN is a network - disks are usually in an array or JBOD.
Some arrays have special procedures regarding disk replacements.
Nobody can advise you anything other than "read the appropriate documentation" based on the information you provided - sorry.
