Replacing Failed Drive in EVA 8000

A drive has failed on the SAN and it was automatically ungrouped. Can I just replace the failed drive or do I need to remove it frist under Disk Enclosure Bay Properities in Command View EVA and then insert the new drive.

Thanks,

Gary

If the disk is ungroupped, click Remove, and replace it. Then add the new disk to the disk group where the failed one was.

Thanks,

Just could not remember if I had to click the remove button or not. Remove is one of those scary words just wanted to be sure.

Thanks Again,

All the system does is flash the fault LED and remove the disk from the EVA's namespace.

I don't know if it still works that way but in older versions the disk was rediscovered if too much time had passed since pressing [Remove].

From my experience, check to make sure that the EVA has "ungrouped" the disk. The drill down to the disk and "remove" it. It will pop up a screen telling you to remove the the driv e and then press OK.

Always UNGROUP and then REMOVE. And remember, this is not a race, take your time between actions. :)
