Reset EVA controller NVRAM

Hi all,

is there a way to reset the HSV controller NVRAM, or to reset it to factory default. I can't use CMD view EVA 6.0.2 any more !!

Thx

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

What's the exact problem you have?

Have you updated the firmware on the EVA?

Current Command View version is 9.2 and it works with all currently supported firmwares.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

Hi,

I tried CMDV 9.1 before buying it, and now i need to go back to manage my EVA like before. The probleme is with my 6.0.2 i can't see my controller.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

This is a known issue. If you use Command View 9.x you cannot go back to CV 6.x. You'll not see the controllers on Command View.

Basically CV 6.x is currently not supported and you cannot downgrade to it.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

You should get a license and use CV 9.2.1.

In order to go back you need to "destroy" the current setup including data - called "uninitialize".

Hope this helps!

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

how can you say that, talking about destroying data !

This is not a solution or a very bad joke or an idea.

Thank you anyway

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

As far as I know - it won't even work. The problem is that the contents of the controller module's NVRAM have been changed, as you wrote already wrote. An UNINITIALIZE will not reverse that.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

As said, this is the better advise:

You should get a license and use CV 9.2.1.

Hope this helps!

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

We plan and it is mandatory to go 9.2 i know that but we can't do that for now.

So i have 2 choices :

- get new controllers
- find a way to "clear NVARM"

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

IMHO both choices will not help.

Hope this helps!

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

Aissa: the problem is not the controllers. Command View 9.x modifies the metadata on the disks. If you replace the controllers, they will read the metadada on the disks and exactly the same will happen.

Can you explain why you want to use CV 6.0? Current version works with all kinds of EVAs, as long as they have sopported firmware.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

Why you say before it is the NVRAM on the controller that CMD 9xx write on ? and now you say the disk is the "probleme".

I try with no shelf (no disk)attached to the controller uninitilized and i get the same probleme.

It is a money probleme ........ waiting for the budget to go on.

Re: Reset EVA controller NVRAM

All the metadata are in controller memory and written to the disks. When starting, these values will be read from disks. For this reason a controller replacement will likely not help. There are probably ways to really "scrub" the metadata, but in this case your data cannot survive.

Hope this helps!
