Re: Reset password on MSA1000 SAN Switch 2/8.

I've asked a HP technician last week, because one of our customers has the same problem. He told me that the customer need to open a call (which will cost money) and HP will manage the recovery with Brocade as there is no easy way.

That is true - Brocade switches running 2.x and 3.x firmware (including the 2/8) have no easy procedure for resetting passwords. HP needs to engage Brocade who generates a single-use recovery firmware that can be used to reset the passwords to the factory default.

Re: Reset password on MSA1000 SAN Switch 2/8.

As per the previous posts, you will probably have to get HP to escalate to Brocade...

However you don't say which username you are having problems with - I'm guessing admin.

Do you know the root user password ? That might still be set to the default (password). If it is then you can reset the other passwords with the passwddefault command.

Hope this helps,

Re: Reset password on MSA1000 SAN Switch 2/8.

Hi.

Thanks for the answers.

I have read through all forum before to ask this question.
I tried different combinations of accounts and passwords. Unsuccessfully.
All these passwords have been changed more than year ago. Now I forgot them. :-(

I have found the reference to utility PasswordRecovery3.0.
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1077446
It mismatches our version. The switches run with v3.2.0 firmware.

According to this reference (and your answers) it is clear, that the decision only in call support. But I hoped for more simple decision.

Sorry for my English.

Regards,
Alexander

Try login with user "root" and factory default password is "fivranne"
