RSM does not recognize EVA8100
I'm trying to get RSM 4.0.1 to work with my two EVA8100.
The Problem: The storage is not visible under "storage systems" in RSM
what i've done before:
- installed RSM 4.0 on my Command View 8.0.1 Server.
- upgraded to RSM 4.0.1 (it's not possible to install this release without upgrading from 4.0)
- started RSM
- went to the menu tools -> configure -> Storage Access -> Management Servers -> EVA Management Servers
- Entered the Administrator Password to Access the EVA. The "State" changed to "Normal" after that, so there is everything fine here.
- did a "global rescan" (it shows 100% in all categories)
But the two EVA are still not visible under "storage systems"
I have no idea what to try next.
regards Patrick

Re: RSM does not recognize EVA8100
Also, you may want to upgrade to CV 8.0.2...

Re: RSM does not recognize EVA8100
I forgot to install the Sun Java JRE on the server. So the problem with detecting the EVA is now solved. But I still have another strange issue:
after installing RSM 4.0 and Java JRE. The RSM works fine. If I upgrade to RSM 4.0.1 and reboot, the "RSM Server Service" does not start anymore, stating the error "system cannot find the file specified".
Now the following file does not exist anymore on my server:
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\RSM\JBoss\bin\ReplService.exe
looks like some kind of upgrading problem. I'll start over again with a clean backup of my server.

Re: RSM does not recognize EVA8100
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\ RSM \JBoss\bin\ReplService.exe"
This is a known error...
Reinstall RSM and browse to the bin folder -> right click the file and make it read only.
Restart ther server and check the replservice starts.

Re: RSM does not recognize EVA8100
Which version of Java did you install on your server to get this to work?

Re: RSM does not recognize EVA8100
Build 1.6.0_11-b03
It will not work if you install Java after the ReplService.exe is missing. You need to install it as prerequisite before installing the RSM 4.0.1 Patch
If you have no "clean" Installation of your server at hand. Try uninstalling the RSM 4.0.1 and the RSM 4.0 and start over with the Java Installation.
