SAN disk with hard, soft and transport error found in solaris system
Hi,
Could someone here explain some information regarding SAN disk with hard soft and transport error found in solaris system,
Found lot of SAN disk we presented having hard, soft and transport error.
Will this affect the Filesystem performance? would this lead to data coruption?

Re: SAN disk with hard, soft and transport error found in solaris system
Hi, so Solaris is reporting SCSI errors on a LUN from a SAN?
Are you seeing these errors on the disks in the array as well? Some arrays provide reporting whenever a disk reports SCSI errors (like unrecovereable read errors, mechanical or write errors, etc)
If you are only seeing these errors on the server, then it appears to be a networking issue in the SAN.
If you see them on the array, well then you know :)
If you see these errors a lot then it could definitely cause degraded performance. Depending on the exact error (check out t10.org/lists/asc-num.htm) it might often mean that the disk needs to retry the write or read or re-calculate from parity etc.
More details and some investigation are needed.
