Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

We have two windows 2003 server in cluster with securepath 4.0c sp2-1 and securepath manager 4.0 sp2
When trying to set the preferred path via the WEB interface we got the following error "
AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND,AGENT_STATUS_COMMAND_FAILED"

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

Hi Stefan

Could you check whether the path you are setting has preferred path is showing active or standby ,by using the command "SPMGR display "
The output of the command will be something like this
Pls upload the output of the command ,

the path is given as available in the WEB page.

the spmgr /display command fails with the following output

Command: spmgr display
Error: possible agent / manager password issues.

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

Hi

Then try set the password for the agent first .by clicking start->program->securepath->securepthcfg

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

Hi Stefano,

two things:
1) To get the command line interface working you first have to type
spmgr passwd
Then spmgr display should work

2) You have a cluster. I assume your SecurePath Manager profile contains both nodes, and you added them to profile using the "HOSTNAME:CLUSTERNAME" notation. Since you can already see the paths in SecurePath Manager, I don't think you have password issues. As Kamal suggested, can you post a screenshot of what you see in SecurePath Manager?

Stephen

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

Looks like you have incorrect cabling. Looks like both HBA in server connected to one MSA controller.

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

Hi,

did you enter the nodes using the notation HOSTNAME:CLUSTERNAME ?
Looks like the icons are for single machines, not cluster nodes. Cluster Hosts have an icon with 3 blue boxes, not just one.
Create a new profile to test, and add the machine names using this notation.

As Basil has noticed, the same controller serial number appears for all paths. How is your storage set up?

Stephen

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

We don't have a MSA but a VA7400.
The two VA7400 controllers are connected to two fabrics.
Each hosts has two HBA each connected to a fabric

Re: Secure path error : AGENT_STATUS_INVALID_COMMAND

adding the nodes as node:cluster doesn't change the behavior. The error still apply
