Secure Path licensing with EVA CA.
Hi,
We are implementing a Disaster Recovery site with EVA 5000's and Continuous Access. We have Window's server at the production site that are in constant use and servers at the DR site which are powered off.
How is Secure Path licensed in this case, do I need Secure Path licenses for both my production servers and DR servers, or does one license do both as only one is up at any one time.
Ronnie

Re: Secure Path licensing with EVA CA.
You need SP licenses for each instance of the OS - whether turned off or not. We tackled this issue by using MPIO (Basic Failover) for EVA at our hot site for servers that are normally powered off. This works for EVA and XP arrays - and we are saving a fortune on the DR site.
MPIO is not SP - but it's good enough.
There is a white paper that HP has put out that describes MPIO and their direction...
