Re: setup emc connectrix clariion fc4500 fc4700 symmetrix n-server l-server
Hi Martha,
Thanks for all the FC4700 information. The servers connected to the ClarIIons are quite new so the patch issue shouldn't be there (but I'm going to check).
I wonder if you could take a look at another ongoing FC4700-problem I have :

Tom,
I replied to this thread about 45 minutes ago, but haven't seen it show up. So, if you get this information twice, I apologize in advance.
Please see the thread:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x59d2e7726eccd5118ff10090279cd0f9,00.html
It describes our woes with our fc4700's first attempt to use a hot spare. The version of the firmware on the fc4700 when it was installed last summer couldn't handle two hot spares. The fc4700 kept rebuilding over and over again for a couple of days, causing poor performance on all the 7 servers using this unit. It also corrupted a raid group, requiring us to back up the data in the raid group, rebuild the raid group, and restore from tape ( down for 9 hours ). We still are not able to run a background verify on the newly rebuilt raid group...not very comforting. In addition, HP-UX 11.0 didn't assign the same device names to the luns ( which are different sizes ) so we had to make changes to the sybase files in order to write data back to correctly sized luns during the restore. I understand that the current version of the firmware solves the problem of multiple hot spares.
