Should I apply MS Windows patches to MSA III
The Windows Security team here insists that I should let them apply some Microsoft Windows patches to the SWMA boxes.
If I remember correctly, I should not apply manually patches like
that to the SWMAs.
Instead, I should use let the SWMAs apply patches by itself using the software
built in by HP.
I try to find some documents to support my argument above.
I have look around the site http://www.hp.com/storage/ and the ITC
forum but can't find any.
Do you know when I can get one?
Thanks,
Zoong Pham

Zoong
take a look at the "Microsoft Hot Fix & Security Bulletins Effects and Required Actions on the Storage Management Appliance" at ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/sanworks/softwaredrivers/managementappliance/bulletins-sma-01-18-2005.pdf
It is the complete list of MS patches and its applicability to the SMA.

Re: Should I apply MS Windows patches to MSA III
Your are absolutely correct. You shouldn't apply any patches to the SWMA unless they have been tested and approved by HP for specific use on the SWMA.
The SWMA website will tell you the do's and dont's.

Christian

Re: Should I apply MS Windows patches to MSA III
Hi,
just want to add that Richard's link is correct, but that the list is updated monthly, about a week or so after MS releases its security bulletins. Then the filename changes.
So if you bookmark this link
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/sanworks/softwaredrivers/managementappliance/index.html#secb
you will always have access to the latest version of the PDF (at least when the ftp-site is up!)
Regards,
Stephen
