SMA Compatibility

Hi,
Currently we r using SMA G3 hardware for managing the EVA 3000 with the single dual port FC card that is accordingly connected with san switches 0/1. software details are as under:
SMA ver 2.00
VCS 3020
CV 3.2
Now we need to add EVA 4000 on the same SMA for managing it, how we can connect and configure it?
EVA 4000 software detail are as under:
XCS 5110
CV 5.00

Re: SMA Compatibility

Hi,

Here you find a compatibilty matrix.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00746641/c00746641.pdf

So you need to perform an update from your EVA3000 to VCS3.028 with is an advisable update.

Re: SMA Compatibility

Additionally, I suggest you wipe out your SMA (if you are not using any of the advanced features like node manager, Allocation Manager, etc) and rebuild as a standed WIndows Server 2003 box. Install the new Command View which will be able to manage both EVA's with ease.

Re: SMA Compatibility

Will you be connecting the EVA's to the same SAN infrastructure? If so, then you do not need a second card. A Single Command View host can support up to 16 EVA's (I think that is the namber.)

You just need to allow access via zoning to both EVA's from your SMA, but you need to update the SAM first.

If you are NOT sharing SAN Infrastructure, then the only thing you can do is connect 1 port on the HBA to 1 fabric the first EVA is in and connect the second port on the HBA to one of the new fabrics where the new EVA is.
