SMA Email Notification Issue
SMA III - Hardware (Proliant DL360 G3) with SAN Appliance Software Version 2.1
We experience intermittent email notification issue where email notification on things like switch port status messages, port errors, etc stops! Generally speaking, a restart of the SMA then gets the email notification working. When email notification is not working for configured events, I have confirmed that the SMA is still able to send emails via Test Email option. Also I get notified of emails generated as a consequence of ISEE Call logging even when the usual email notification is broken! So rule out SMTP/Firewall related issues.
I have had a call open with HP in regard to this issue around 6 months ago - wasnt convinced with the resolution that I was offered (rebuild of the SMAs) - as this issue is being experienced on multiple SMAs.
Anyone - any thoughts?
Regards,
Saket.

Re: SMA Email Notification Issue
I'm pretty sure that is a windows service that stops, and then the communication fails. I'm not sure what is the service, you have to find it when notification does not work.
I think that if your SMA uses W2k3, you can configure the recovery options for the service.
Or you can use the net start command to verify the status of the services, if the service is not "up" then you should restart the service with net start.

Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: SMA Email Notification Issue
Saket,
On a totally unrelated subject, could you please contact me regarding HSG80 ACS v8.8 firmware. I read in another thread that you may have some spares available and I have no other way of contacting you.
Thanks,
