SPM Login

This is a new installation. I've installed the Secure Path agents on two Novell servers, and the Secure Path Manager on a Windows 2000 Professional station. When I try to connect I get a SPM Login message, with "Wrong password or current client running SPM is NOT authorized to access Secure Path Agent on SERVER1!"

Re: SPM Login

Well, that is a very helpful response. On other operating systems I have seen the agent just crashing :-(

Mark, his message is described in the Secure Path V3.0C Installation Guide on page 17.

I have never worked with Secure Path on NetWare, but from judging the manual it appears easy to fix.

Re: SPM Login

Uwe,

I have the hp StorageWorks, Secure path version 3.0c for Novell NetWare workgroup edition, installation guide, Product Version 3.0C, however I can find what you have referenced. There is a page 5-17 and this doesn't have anything about the problems that I am having, nor can I find a reference in any of the other manuals or Internet- maybe I'm still looking in the wrong place!? So if you could provide more details or point me in the correct direction please.

Also, a question on the HOST, and maybe this is my problem. Is the Connection Name in the Selective Storage Presentation, or where do I tell it these Host names? The server name?

Thanks

Mark

Re: SPM Login

Oh, you are running the workgroup edition. Then that is manual AA-RTNGA-TE, right? In my copy it is on page 4-3.

The connection name is indeed maintained in the SSP section. It gives you the ability to control which server (sometime also called a HOST) can access which LUN.

The connection name (I assume from the workgroup edition that you are using an MSA1000) has nothing to do with the HOST (TCP/IP) name of the server, but I agree that it makes sense to you the server's name here, however:

Image you have multiple fibre channel dapters in the server, then you will get multiple connections which belong to the same server. I usually give the connections the same name as the server and then append '_1' or something other (slot number?) to distingush the adapters.

Re: SPM Login

Hello,

When you start SPA on Novell you must configure a password and an client. The client is your SPM (IP or name) When you use a name you must be able to ping on that name. (DNS, otherwise use a hostfile)
On the SPM you must do the same. Use the same password and connect to the agent. (also ip or name).

With regards,

Otto
