MA8000 with duel HSG80 controllers, 6 - 146Gb drives in a RAID 5 config and one spare. Under storageworks CC it shows there should be 733 Gigs, Under windows disk management it shows 683.31 Gigs. Is this normal? Everything looks fine as far as I can tell except for this.
thanks,
Jeremy

Solution
Jeremy:
This is the diference between the two measurements. a 1024 (Binary) thousand, and an actual 1000.
For example, If I look at the properties of a file on a windows based system. I can see that it says
SIZE: 174KB(178,688 bytes), 196,608 bytes used.
That is 3 different sizes for the same file. K(1024) bytes, actual bytes, and allocated space according to my cluster size on the spindle. So which one is really correct? :-) (They all are!)
IF you take this difference of 24 and add it all up, this can be a noticable difference by the time that you get to 700GB!

Re: Storageset size reporting windows 2000
Thanks for the explanation. This is a really great group, actually the best one that I have ever used.
