Storport vs Miniport

We are experiencing I/O problems with SQL on a BL20p G3 attached to an EVA5000 using QLogic HBA’s. We are currently using the Miniport driver. I found a document on the HP site “Tuning SQL Server 2005 on HP Integrity Servers” that suggests using StorPort drivers and adjusting the “Execution throttle” to be equal to or greater than the number of physical drives.

Is there documentation available for tuning SQL on Proliant servers? Or, any HP documentation suggesting the use of StorPort rather than Miniport drivers?

We recently ran into the same issue, once we switched over to StorPort driver we saw an I/O improvement. StorPort drivers are recommended.. See links below.
