STORport

I noticed that HP now has an official Emulex STORport HBA driver. It does not say whether it is qualified for all storage arrays or just some. The word I got a few months ago for the EVA was that it needed a future firmware upgrade in order to support STORport, and that such firmware still isn't out.

I read the readme from the driver update and it didn't say anything about storage arrays.

Re: STORport

storport drivers will support EVA, XP, and MSA storage boxes, but not HSG80.

Not sure about the firmware, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks,

Re: STORport

After digging around more, I found some info. Secure Path 4.0c SP1 is required to use the Emulex STORport driver. And as you said, the STORport driver supports the EVA and MSA.

Now the big question is, when will HP support MPIO?

Re: STORport

Oh! I didn't see that.....does that take the place of Secure Path? It says "Basic failover" ....what does that mean? Is something better in the works?

Re: STORport

Funny thing is that I can't download the file. It comes up with a URL error.

Re: STORport

I did just stumble over it by accident and have not tried it (not even tried to download it, sorry - did you give them feedback?). As far as I can tell it is incompatible with Secure Path and Autopath - you can only have one of them. My understanding is that there is no GUI on top of the driver, so you don't have any control.

Re: STORport

I did send them feedback about the broken link. It would be great if they beefed up the MPIO driver to have a GUI like SecurePath, but didn't charge for it. :-)
