switch connection
Another newb question.
We have the following setup in an EVA 3000
Blade enclosure with 5 blades
2 fiber switches
Tape Library
I understand that the Blades are connected to the switches through fiber, then switches to controllers and we see our drives.
The Blade enclosure has 4 ethernet ports out per blade which connects to the LAN and hence people can talk to our servers.
Is it possible to connect the fiber switches directly into our LAN via FIBER and not use the ethernet ports (FIBER switch on SAN to FIBER Switch on LAN)? I wouldn't think so because communication on the fiber network is done through WWN #'s so the layer 2 switching isn't using a typical mac address that we see on our LAN.
But I thought I would ask, thanks for your answers.

Re: switch connection
Hi,
It is not possible.
The fiber connection are for the SAN (Storage access)
The ethernet connection is for the LAN

Re: switch connection
Your guess are right, you cannot use the FP to connect to an ethernet network, they use differents protocols.
The SAN network is independent and cannot communicate with your FC LAN network.
