Unable to ungroup disks

I have a SAN EVA5000 with HSV110 and 88 , 72 GB drives. They are grouped into 3 groups , grp A has 32 drives, grb B has 40 drives and rest 16 drives are in the default disk grop. I want to creat a new group say, C with 8 drives. So i started ungrouping the drives in default disk group. I was able ungroup 4 drives, which now show up in the the "ungrouped disks" folder. When I tried the 5th disk, i get an error that says " Operation failed, minimum volumes in Disk Group"
What am I doing wrong ?

Versions are
Management appliance Version 2.0 Service Pack 1a
Element Manager for StorageWorks HSV Application Software Version 3.0a

VCS
Thanks in advance

Re: Unable to ungroup disks

2 issues you can run into.

Not enough space left for vdisks

No less then 8 drives per diskgroup

When you ungroup disks, you spread the data from that disk onto free space in the pool.
If you dont have free space, you cannot ungroup drives.

You need to have 8 or more drives per diskgroup. (performance / redundancy / vcs efficiency)

Note : ALLWAYS keep at least 5 -10% of free space in every pool to optimise VCS efficiency

Re: Unable to ungroup disks

Yes, I am aware of those.
There are no Virtual LUNs formed out of that disk group (default disk group) and it has 12 physical drives currently.
It had 16 drives initially.
I am trying to form another disk group of 8 drives so there will be two groups of 8 drives each.

Re: Unable to ungroup disks

Try to create a new vdisk in that disk group.

So go to create vdisk, select the diskgroup, and look at the available size for RAID0.

That indicates the CURRENT free space.
(is different as diskgroup properties)

Do you have freespace.
