UNpresent LUN's

UNpresent LUN's

I have an EVA4400, and 3  ESX hosts. One of those hosts sees several of our current LUN's with different ID numbers than the other two hosts.

We would like to unpresent those luns to the one ESX host and then present them back correcting the ID numbers. I am looking for proper steps/procedures...any tips or tricks etc. We are planiing to do this procedure in 2 days.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank You

Re: UNpresent LUN's

Should be pretty straight forward.  This is what I would do:

  1.  Put the host into maintenance mode so no VMs are running on it
  2.  Unpresent the LUNs from the EVA
  3.  In vCenter, perform a disk rescan on the ESX host (alternatively reboot the host)
  4.  Verify that no LUNs are seen by the ESX host
  5.  Present the LUNs back to the ESX host in the same order that the other hosts see the LUNs
  6.  Perform a disk rescan on the host
  7.  Verify you see the LUNs in the correct order
  8.  Take server out of maintenance mode and migrate a test VM over to that host to verify everything is good to go

Thanks...that is exactly what we did and it worked like a charm!
