What are commands to recover vdisk from snap clone ?
I want to use snap clone to make a disk copy of my production database. I have that procedure down. I am looking for the steps necessary to restore from my snapclone back to the original vdisk. I realize that the snap clone is a snap shot until completetion and I have that hole there. The snap clone will not be mounted.
I caught a thread a couple of week ago in partially in regard to this, but I cannot locate it again.
Thanks

Re: What are commands to recover vdisk from snap clone ?
EVA snapshots and snapclones are available for use right after the creation. You can mount your vdisk and use it as a normal disk if you want, following the restrictions of the operating systems, like duplicate PVID for volume groups, domain ID for Tru64.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: What are commands to recover vdisk from snap clone ?
I want to use the snapclone as a disk backup. I would want to restore the snapeclone back to the original vdisk, not mount it.

Re: What are commands to recover vdisk from snap clone ?
A snapclone, once the copy is over, is a complete independend virtual disk.
You could remove the "original" from the host's presentation and present the "clone" instead.
Another possibility, depending on EVA model and controller firmware is to:
- unpresent the "original"
- turn the virtual disk into a container
- start a snapclone into this container
- present the "clone" to the host again
If you are using operating systems (OpenVMS, Tru64 Unix) / multipath software (e.g. Secure Path) that are working with Unit identifiers or LUN WWNs, you need to do additional work for a smooth operatin
