which san
Which san would be the best solution for me to implement with the existing parts I have and to also have server failover.

Re: which san
Be aware that this would require a complete backup/restore as your drives would have to be given over to the HSG80s.
Good luck,
Vince

Re: which san
But I was looking at the 8000 for my san solution but from what I understand the 8000 will no longer be in production as of Oct 1st this year.
Then upgradeing from that I could go to a 12000.
Am I on the right track?

Re: which san
The EVA does not use the 4300 enclosures you have (the EVA uses FC drives, and the 4300's are SCSI). However, the MAS1000 *does* use them, so you could migrate to MSA1000 and re-use your enclosures.
Here's the catch - you can only put 42 drives on an MSA1000 (3 4300 enclosures), so you would have to purchase 2 of the MSA1000 controller enclosures for your 6 4300's.
I would still suggest using the MA/EMA controllers s they are more functional than the MSA1000 - the MSA is an entry-level subsystem, and the MA/EMA are a little higher-end.
In the end, it's your choice...
Good luck,
Vince

Re: which san
So you need 3 MSA1000 for 6 4314 enclosures.
MSA1000 has 4 SCSI channels. Two of them (bus 0, 1) are used by MSA1000 disks (7 disks per channel), the other two (bus 2, 3) for expansion units. One unit per bus!
Note you can connect just one 4354 unit (dual-bus), 28 drives max with this unit.
You can refer to MSA1000 specs at http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11033_na/11033_na.html
