Does HPE Morpheus VMEssentials support user level quotas (CPU/Memory/Storage)
I'm evaluating HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (VME) on HVM (Ubuntu 24.04-based hypervisor) and I need to implement user-based resource quotas.
I am looking for user-based cumulative quotas in Morpheus VM Essentials (VME 8.x on HVM):
Per-user limits on CPU cores, RAM, and storage (total across all their VMs)
Admin over-allocation allowed (thin provisioning, not locking resources upfront)
Automatic enforcement when users provision or resize instances
In oVirt this is done with the built-in Quota feature. In VME I only see Service Plans, which are per-VM only and have no cumulative tracking or over-commit option.
Is this possible in VM Essentials, or is it only in the full Enterprise edition? Any workaround?
Thanks!

Re: Does HPE Morpheus VMEssentials support user level quotas (CPU/Memory/Storage)
Hi @hgi2000
I believe, in HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (VME 8.x), you can only set per‑VM limits using Service Plans, which means each virtual machine can be capped for CPU, RAM, and storage individually. However, the platform does not support cumulative, per‑user quotas that track and enforce total resources across all of a user’s VMs.
That kind of quota management with overcommit and automatic enforcement is available only in the full Morpheus Enterprise edition.
As a workaround in Essentials, administrators can restrict VM sizes through Service Plans and monitor overall usage manually or with external tools like HVM resource pools or monitoring systems, but true automatic per‑user quota enforcement requires Enterprise.
Hope this helps.

Sanika.
