How to mount ISO to running VM without restarting that VM
We have VM running windows server 2022. We have uploaded Veeam ISO to ISO datastores. After install windows server 2022 we unmount windows ISO file by Access to Instance => Click to windows VM => Actions => Eject Disks => ISO unmount OK.
We click to Reconfigure => mount Veeam ISO as CD ROM, then that windows VM is automatic restart, after restart that VM stuck at startup. We couldn't access to that VM as screenshot below, it seem that vm is unable to start.
How to solve this case?
So, does it has any way to mount ISO to VM without restarting that VM?
Thank you
After many attempt, VM couldn't boot
After many time try to boot, that VM could't power on any more.

Re: How to mount ISO to running VM without restarting that VM
Mounting ISO without restart is possible since version 8.0.6. What version are you running?
A reboot is only required if you would have to "Add" the virtual CDROM drive itself. But if the drive is already there and you just attach in ISO to that drive, no reboot is (should be) needed.

Re: How to mount ISO to running VM without restarting that VM
Instance - Eject disks
VM - Reconfigure - select the ISO you want to mount on the CDROM drive.
If there is no CDROM drive available and you need to add one, a reboot will be required.
If you can just select your ISO, it is an online operation.

Re: How to mount ISO to running VM without restarting that VM
We followed your guide but that VM always automatic reboot and couldn't boot up after that.
And another problem is when we change Networks, that VM automatic reboot too.
Any one have another idea?

Re: How to mount ISO to running VM without restarting that VM
In my case is:
We have VM windows serrver 2022 (called BackupServer) is running normally. We turn it off, then the state had change to shut off.
- We clone it to another VM (called BackupServer-clone with all configuration is the same, nothing change). The new VM is automatic power on after clone, we checked everything on new VM is ok, it running normally as the old one. We also see new VM when run virsh list --all.
- We turn the new VM to off, then we click to Action => Eject Disks. Then we access to Actions => Reconfigure => Choose new ISO (Veeam ISO that we have already uploaded before) => Reconfigure. After that we couldn't start that new VM, even that VM dissappear when we run "virsh list --all"
Please help us slove that problem?
Thank you.
