HPE migration tool for HPE VM essentials IP & AMC address retention
Hi all,
thank you all for your answers to my previous question.
I have 1 more question that my 2 customers (mid size banks) have as a hard prerequiste.
Does the Morhpeus migration tool supprt keeping the same IP address and mac address when being migrated from vmware to HPE VM essentials?
It is not 100% clear to me from the youtube video and/or documentation, and this is a very hard prerequisite with them.
Thank you in advance.
Martin

Re: HPE migration tool for HPE VM essentials IP & AMC address retention
I thought there would also be HP employees here on this forum to answer some product questions for potential customers, guess i was wrong, my bad.
If such a fundamental question cannot be answered i guess I will have to look elsewhere to seek an valid alternative to my customers VCF environment.
Pity, as HPE VM essentials looked promising.

Re: HPE migration tool for HPE VM essentials IP & AMC address retention
Hi Martin - apologies that you haven't got a response yet. There are HPE employees here (like me) but some (like me) don't have the expertise to answer some questions. The intent of our forums is that the "community" of both HPE and others help answer each others questions. That said, if you are running the trial software, the HPE Software Portal had an email address for you to send questions/issues to during the trial. That lands on our HPE Customer Support Center team and they try to get to them as best they can: hpe-sw-trial-vmessentials@hpe.com.
Again, I'm sorry that you haven't had a response yet. Please do use the email address - I'll also ask internally to see if I can find an answer.

Re: HPE migration tool for HPE VM essentials IP & AMC address retention
Hello,
our included migration tool keeps the original MAC address, but since the OS is seeing a new interface from a virtual hardware perspective, it usually renames the interface and manual configuration for the IP is needed.
