HPE Morpheus VM Essentials can work with Backup Exec or not?

Hello,

Our office currently using Veritas Backup Exec 22.2 to back up the VMWare. However when I checked with Veritas, it seems they didn't specifically saying that Backup Exec can backing the HPE Morpheus VME. The reason I asked today is to check that our office may eventually migrate VMWare into HPE VME very soon. So the backup is one of the things that we will need to consider as well.

Currently VMWare backup is to backup the whole image to disk then to the tapes.

Thanks in advance.

Timothy

Hello @Admin_MTS

Currently, your setup backs up VMware images to disk and then to tape, which is a common and reliable approach. If you proceed with the migration, you may want to ensure the below mentioned points:

1. Backup Execution supports image-level backups for HPE VME
2. Tape backup workflows remain compatible
3. Any APIs or integration points used for VMware are also available or compatible with HPE VME.

Hence, I recommend engaging both Veritas and HPE support teams to confirm compatibility and explore alternative backup solutions if needed.

Sanika.

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials can work with Backup Exec or not?

Hey Timothy,

From what I have seen, backup exec does not officially support HPE Morpheus VM Essentials yet. If you VMs are still running on a supported hypervisor under Morpheus, you might be able to back them up, but if Morpheus is managing them directly, it probably won't integrate natively.

You might want to look  at HPE's own backup tools or something like veeam for full compatibility. Definitely worth running a small test before fully migrating to make sure your backups and restores work as expected.
