HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

Yes indeed, the next release of HPE Morpheus VM Essentials is here with the release of v8.0.7. You can read what's new in the release notes. Note that the previous release notes were on MorpheusData.com but we've moved them to the HPE Support Center. You probably need to log-in to your HPE account to see these documents in the HPE Support Center. Here's a link to everything VM Essentials in the HPE Software Center. Here are some of the highlights from the release notes:

New Features

Instances
  • The Instances list page now includes an optional Date Created field and is sortable by this field

VMware
  • Added the option to select a memory snapshot when creating a snapshot of an Instance running in a VMware Cloud

HVM
  • Users can now opt out of moving powered-off VMs to other hosts when placing a host into maintenance mode

Fixes

Backups
  • Attempts to backup HVM Instances having mixed storage volumes (ex. local storage and Alletra storage) no longer fail

  • Snapshotting HVM Instances having mixed storage volumes (ex. local storage and Alletra storage) will no longer fail

Clone
  • Clone creation no longer fails for HVM Instances having mixed storage volumes (ex. local storage and Alletra storage)

Clusters
  • The datastores list within a Cluster detail page (Storage tab) can now show more than 25 datastores

Storage
  • Fixed adding storage buckets not honoring "No Proxy" configurations

  • Fixed the HPE Morpheus Enterprise footer not extending the entire page width on storage bucket detail pages

There are a couple of other sections in the Release Notes and you should check that out. I expect the next release will have some exciting new features to talk about!

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

Currently doing a trial using 8.0.6
What is the process for updating the HPE Morpheus console vm from 8.0.6 to 8.0.7 ?
Does it require the current one to go down ?
I read the release notes and the other stuff and could not easily find it. Also how do you download it ?

Hello Mike,

The Morpheus VM Essentials 8.0.7 can be downloaded from the

https://myenterpriselicense.hpe.com/cwp-ui/software

For evaluation licenses, customers are recommended to fresh install the v 8.0.7

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

yeah to much stuff setup, not going to rebuild the environment from scratch just to update. What will the process be for upgrade if we decide to get real licenses?
a apt upgrade on each node ?
can it be done live ?
what about the console ?

Hello,

Refer https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sd00006472en_us&page=GUID-B96D6475-9834-4E0F-A08B-CB97F532B786.html#ariaid-title9 for the VME version upgradaiton to 8.0.7. This is for who purchased the license.

As mentioned in this thread, for the user who uses trial version, if they need to upgrade to 8.0.7, we need to do fresh install.

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

thank you, this is what I was looking for to knock that checkmark off the trial check, looks easy enough. No downtime for hosts or vms other then the console which is comparable to upgrading vmware vcenter.

Hi,

Does the same apply to those who have NFR license keys ?

Hi,

The User who has NFR license keys can download the "upgradation file (hpe-vm-essentials_8.0.7-3_amd64.deb ):" and follow the upgradation procedure.

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

I'm the user that activated the NFR license that was sent by HPE.

But unfortunately no download option for hpe-vm-essentials_8.0.7-3_amd64.deb, only full ISO available...

It's inside. you have to download the ISO and open it and extract it This is easily done on linux with a mount command, google it.

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

The upgrade files are not in the ISO. That is the default install ISO and only contains the hpe-vm tool and the install image.

You should search for
HPE_VME_NFR-UPGRADE
as product in the partner portal to find the upgrade files.

Waiting for your reply.

Hi Calvin,

At HP Discover in Las Vegas a presenter mentioned that in a future release the OS will be included in the download/install. Removing the pre-req of users manually installing ubuntu, then installing the hypervisor. Do you have an idea of when that might be happening?

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.7 is out!

The inclusion of Ubuntu in the ISO is coming soon, very soon but I can't be specific as things can change based on testing. I'm not 100% certain what the install will look like but I think it will likely be the similar to today - just that we will include (and support) Ubuntu that we include with the ISO.
