Install HPE VM Essentials on Ubuntu without internet

We try to install hpe_vm with command:

#apt install -f ./hpe-vm_1.0.11-1_amd64.deb

But it show "E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?" Because our site does not allow to access to internet. Please show us how to install on  Ubuntu without internet.

Thank you very much,

Re: Install HPE VM Essentials on Ubuntu without internet

You should be using this ISO image from the HPE Software Center to deploy the host:    HVM_Install_24.04_S5Q83-11031.iso    (SHA256 Checksum: 86bf8e9836605d1713704028b51d633436208ef4bcdcbb0a5e7cee33dfc774c8)

It includes everything necessary except the hpe-vm-essentials-8.0.8-1.qcow2.gz, which you can get in this ISO image:  HPE_VM_Essentials_SW_image_8.0.8_S5Q83-11019.iso  (SHA256 Checksum: 0166924d8b9500759b17f1cbbbbde638f3220018502b8a056657128c11e1d3f8)

Bart has published a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDTMiD8KLxo) on the exact steps to take to deploy.  Follow his steps and do not change anything else during the setup process, and you **should** be successful.

Re: Install HPE VM Essentials on Ubuntu without internet

Hello @tungxp,

To add to what @dccolpitts mentioned:

First, locate the download you wish to access from My HPE Software Center, in my example I am using HPE Morpheus VM Ess SW 60-Day / 6 Sockets Evaluation (Ver 8.0.8).  Once you located it choose the Get Downloads and the available files should be listed for download.

There are two files needed, seen below:

  • HPE_VM_Essentials_SW_image_8.0.8_S5Q83-11019.iso
  • HVM_Install_24.04.ISO_8.0.8_S5Q83-11031.iso

vme_download.png

HVM_Install_24.04.ISO_8.0.8_S5Q83-11031.iso contains the Ubuntu operating system.  You'll use this to install Ubuntu on your baremetal host or VM, which will contain all of the packages needed in an offline installation.  It will have hpe-vm already installed as well.

Once installed, the next will be to setup your HVM host and manger.  Mount HPE_VM_Essentials_SW_image_8.0.8_S5Q83-11019.iso to the baremetal host or VM, which will contain a qcow2 image for the manager.  You'll then run the hpe-vm setup and when asked for the manager image, choose the qcow2 image in the mounted ISO.
