I cloned a virtual machine that already had the agent installed, but when I checked the "Agent Version" in the virtual machine overview, the version was not displayed and a message stating that it was not installed was displayed. I assumed the agent was installed on the guest OS and thought there was no need to install it again, but that was not the case. After reinstalling the agent, the version was displayed in the "Agent Version" section of the virtual machine overview.
Why is this?
*The same thing happened when I deployed it as a template rather than just cloning it.
*This is a machine translation, so I apologize if it is difficult to understand.

SolutionEvery Agent/every VM has it's own unique key to report back to VME. If you just clone a VM that has the agent installed, the key/config is also cloned and the new VM will indeed not be able to report back to VME.
My personal advice is to remove the Agent before cloning/sysprep and install it during deployment or afterwards.
