Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
I'm still new to this software and trying to understand the order of operations and how to do an upgrade. The guide calls out upgrading only VME Manager only and skips over the process to upgrade HVM nodes. Is there a documented process on how to upgrade the HVM nodes?
Do you typically upgrade HVM hosts first? And then do the VME Manager? Or is it the other way around? Does it matter?
For upgrading the VME Manager I'm also seeing in the guide that it calls out obtaining the .deb file and says not to use the ISO file. This is a bit confusing because the only available files in My HPE Software Center are two ISO files? Where are the .deb files located?
Upgrading the Manager | HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software Documentation v8.0.10
Also are the available HVM Install ISOs updated with each monthly release? Or do these stay the same some months? File sizes on these two files for Sept vs Oct releases make me think it's the same but noticed the 8.0.8 version number was removed, so that confuses me.
Thanks for any assistance!

Re: Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
Good morning
It looks that update DEB packages are available only for "real" (bought or NFR) licenses and not Evaluation licenses.
It is weird, but that's the way it is now.
Have a nice day,

Re: Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
Hello jamgwert81,
regular evaluation users don't have access to the update files. If the software is purchased, you will get access to the *.deb files and can freely update the VM essentials software. In regards of the question about the ISO and the version, that is been removed in the latest, because it confused people, but it can surely be
used with any VME install. Of course the latest one is more recommended.

Re: Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
So I just realized that the VM Essentials SW image ISO actually contains the .qcow2 file but also a .deb file. Is this the correct .deb file to do an update?
@PeterTzvetanov If what you said is true, I find it pretty disappointing that someone wanting to do a trial evaluation of this product can't even test how upgrades work.
Also, I'd still like to have someone outline for me how you go about updating the HVM nodes (process and correct commands if that is CLI) and if there is an order of operations to follow. HVM nodes first? Or VME Manager? Does it matter?
Thanks in advance,

Re: Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
Hi jamgwert81,
unfortunally not, the deb file is only to get on an system with ubuntu.com installed OS to align with all required for the run of the installation of the VME packages. It will not help for the update. If you want to have the newer edition, but are on evaluation, you will have to reinstall.

Re: Process to upgrade VM Essentials from 8.0.9 to 8.0.10?
Hi jamgwert81,
you can anytime update the hosts itself as far as they have internet access or a proxy. Just in case that you use the GFS2 functionality, the hosts need specific handling as for the maintenance like "apt update && apt upgrade -y", you should run before the command "pcs node standby" on it and once "pcs cluster status" reports your node in maintenance you can proceed with the maintenance and reboot that node once finished. Once the server is back, you can then run "pcs node unstandby" and you will see how the host get the /mnt/XYZuuid" mounted and is again happy member of the cluster and "pcs cluster status" and "pcs status" reports everything happy.
