Setup Pure Storage FlashArray X50R4 as datastore over FC connectivity

Dear HPE support team,

We have:

  • 3x server HPE ProLiant Compute DL380 Gen12.
  • 1x HPE Storage Fibre Channel Switch B-series SN3600B
  • 1x Pure Storage FlashArray X50R4

We are planning to install HVM clusters and using Fibre Channel as the primary storage protocol. I don't see Pure Storage FlashArray X50R4 in "Compatibility Matrix for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software", so could it be possible to setup datastore over FC connectivity?

Hello,

It is certainly possible to use your Storage Array, but it will not be supported officially.
You can ask Pure to validate their storage for VME.  We have procedures to do that.

Just create some (2) LUNS on your storage box and export/present to the 3 hosts like you would do for other Hypervisors.
Next, follow the install guide which is in general:

- Install BaseOS Ubuntu with HPE ISO
- Install VME Manager
- Create cluster
- Add datastore to cluster
