Alletra 6030 Additional Drive Upgrade

Good day all.

I need to upgrade an Alletra 6030 with additional 12 drive - same size and disk as the already 12 drives installed.

The triple parity+ config currently on the 12 drives is 9+3. Now instead of adding another 9+3 raid, can the new 12 drives
not be added to the current raid config? As I understand it - a re-imaging will need to take place to utilize 21+3 config?

However, with re-imaging, all data will need to be moved off the current array, and that will be challenging...

Do I understand that correctly?

Kind reg,

G

Re: Alletra 6030 Additional Drive Upgrade

Hello ,
RAID configuration is designed and handled by the array OS and we wont be able to modify the same.
When you add 12 more drives (next set) automatically another raid set created - 9 + 3.
This is by design for arrays triple+ parity to work seamlessly without impact to user data in the event of drive failures.

So in short we cannot go with the option of having 21+3 drives raid group.
