Alletra MP: switched Vs switchless

Hi guys,

I'm unable to find a simple and comprehensive response for the question: when the switched design is required? when the switchless is enough?
Could you help me pointing me to the right documentations?

Thanks

Re: Alletra MP: switched Vs switchless

Hi GioV,

In very simple words, switchless configuration has only two nodes and if you need to add additional controller nodes, need to go for switch configuration. In other words, smaller arrays are switchless and when you scale up the array, need to choose switched configuration.

The best documentation to find the different Hardware configuations for siwtched and switchless arrays is the quicksepecs - HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP

Dear @veeyarvi

is it possible to start switchless and go switched after the deploy?

Thanks

Re: Alletra MP: switched Vs switchless

Hi GioV,

Yes, you can upgrade to switched configuration later for most of the configuration (e.g., 8 core arrays do not support more than 2 nodes). More detals can be seen in QuickSpecs.
