HF20 expansion shelf issue enquiry

Dear community, 

We're using HF20 controller with max capacity error. Accidentally purchased the wrong capacity, should have been a downgrade. Any encountered similar issues and how do you resolve it? 

Current Head Shelf : 21 x 4TB

Current Expansion Shelf: 21 x 4TB

New Expansion Shelf: 21 x 4TB [Nimble unable to recognise this expansion due to exceeded capacity] 

Total: 63 x 4TB =~252TB (exceeded max capacity of 210TB) 

We have explored 1 alternatives;

a. Upgrade to Alletra (But Alletra will not recognise the part number of new expansion shelf as it's not configured to main shelf yet, unless its done then its fine) 

b. any other recommendations

One possible solution to the issue you're facing is to remove some of the 4TB drives from the existing shelves to bring the total capacity below the maximum capacity of 210TB. This will involve some downtime and data migration to ensure that the data is not lost during the process.

Another option is to replace some of the 4TB drives with smaller capacity drives in the existing shelves to bring the total capacity below the maximum limit. However, this approach will also involve downtime and data migration.

If neither of these options is feasible, you may also try reaching out to HPE Nimble support to see if they have any other solutions that may be available to you. They may be able to assist you with finding a solution that works for your specific situation.

It's important to note that adding more capacity than the maximum limit of your storage system can result in data loss or other issues. Therefore, it's essential to address this issue as soon as possible to avoid any potential problems.
