Hi everybody
I am a mid level pre-sale engineer in a IT Distribution company. And I need your help, because there is request for storage system with the requirements, which seemed to me not simple :-).
So the requirements are as follows:
1) Requirements for performance parameters of the storage system must be at least:
The number of requests to the object storage per month S3 with an object size of 1-10Mb at least:
a. GET, HEAD - 223 million requests
b. PUT, POST, COPY - 150 million requests
c. DELETE - 113 thousand requests
d. Data - 37 TB per month.
2) The system must provide access via the S3 protocol (it is one of the most important requirements)
3) The storage system must meet the requirements for high availability and fault tolerance with the ability to withdraw at least one node for maintenance without significant performance degradation.
4) The system should provide the possibility of horizontal and vertical scaling
5) Useful storage capacity of at least 350Tb on high-density drives using data caching on high-speed SSD drives
6) The system must be equipped with redundant switches (Front End, Back End) with an access speed of at least 10G on optical interfaces
I guess Nimble can be configured.
And are there any sizers that will help me determine the useful volume that is specified in the request?
I will be very grateful if you can help with your professional advice

SolutionHello @Samandar,
1) These specifications (a, B, c, d) are in customer's own terms of usage. When they are considering to purchase Storage systems, all these must be defined in IOps, read performance, write performance. Then you can match them with Storage system technical specifications etc. You can involve a technical liaison (Storage+compute expert or a storage architect) to put the terms in general storage specifications. I think these parameters are certainly achievable by the recent models of high end HPE storages.
2) HPE Nimble and Alletra storages support cloud volumes with AWS (S3), Azure and Google cloud. That means you can export a volume from these storage to a host on the cloud.
3) HPE 3PAR, Alletra and Nimble storages support this.
4) HPE 3PAR, Alletra and Nimble storages support this. But you must choose a best suited scalable model.
5) HPE 3PAR, Alletra and Nimble storages support this.
6) HPE 3PAR, Alletra and Nimble storages support this.
For sizing tool, you can consider NinjaSTARS. Please refer this link for more details - https://saf.hpe.com/safdesktop/info/findit/index.php

Re: HPE Storage system with S3 protocol
Nimble/Alletra 6K support FC and iSCSI only, no S3.
