Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
One of our servers is an older G6 with ILO 2 (v1.79) that will eventually be migrated to a newer platform, but for the time being I'd still like to be able to monitor it in OneView.
According to the HP OneView 4.1 Support Matrix:
Any ProLiant DL G6 (with iLO 2)
The monitoring feature is available for all G6 and later ProLiant servers with iLO 2, iLO 3, or iLO 4. If a server is being monitored by HPE OneView, you can still manage the enclosures, server profiles, and Virtual Connect infrastructure through VCM or VCEM. You cannot manage server profiles for monitored server hardware in HPE OneView.
How can I do this? When I try to add it in Server Hardware, I the following error:
The server hardware iLO firmware version is not supported.
This server hardware does not meet the minimum firmware requirement. The server hardware iLO firmware version is {0}. Supported firmware versions are {1} or higher. Firmware for monitored server hardware must be managed manually.
Resolution Manually update iLO firmware on the server hardware and try again.
SNMP Pass-Through is enabled in the ILO.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Hello vx_it,
The version of iLO that is currently installed is dated ~2009, whereas, specific OneView version released 2018. Oneview communication path with iLO introduced much later than 2009. Subsequently, it is recommended to upgrade iLO2 firmware to (latest) version 2.33. Normally, there won't be any issue after iLO firmware upgrade. If not possible, to upgrade to 2.33 the minimum supported version for OneView is 2.13.
This link will redirect you to iLO 2 firmware download page: HP Integrated Lights-Out 2.
There are several ways to upgrade iLO, either directly running the smart component (i.e. exe file from windows ) or, by extracting smart component & uploading .bin file to iLO2 web administror firmware update menu.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Hello!
I updated the firmware ilo on version, downloaded from this link. Now it's 2.33.
But the error persists. I'm trying to add a server hp proliant dl360 Gen6 in HP OneView 4.10.04.
Error description:
Add - Server Hardware - OneView
Resolution: Verify that 'mskspan02ilo.te-ex.ru' is a management processor with supported firmware. Consult the HPE OneView Support Matrix for a list of supported hardware.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
I am also having the same issue as netman777.
We have 2 x DL380 G6 servers with ILO2 on frmware 2.33 that we cannot add to OneView 4.10. Each time, the process produces the error message below. We have other Gen9 servers added without issue.
Resolution: Verify that '172.20.3.224' is a management processor with supported firmware. Consult the HPE OneView Support Matrix for a list of supported hardware.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
I too have problems adding iLO2 firmware version 2.33. Same symptoms. I created a separate thread since I had some more clues/symptoms and may be different from yours. "My" thread is:
Who has enough knowledge to check if your TLS connections are also slow for cipher, say, DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA and fast for cipher, say, AES256-SHA?

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
m_icha,
This is still an open issue. Do you have any documentation on how to configure a DL 380 G6 with ILO 2 for Monitoring with OneView?
Our installation meets all the requirements (versions, agents, SNMP, etc.) and still this is not working. Are there any HPE internal notes on how to make it actally work?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Has anyone actually got this to work? All I have seen is a bunch of check the support matrix and open a case.
Has HPE actually validated that it is possible to add a proliant g6 server running latest firmware?

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
All,
Apologize for the delay in responding on this.
We acknowledge this issue you have reported with not being able to add a Gen6 iLO2 v2.33 to OneView for monitoring.
This issue is fixed in OneView 4.10.05.
You will be able to add a Gen6 iLO2 v2.33 server to OneView 4.10.05 for monitoring.
The same problem exists with OneView 4.20 GA. A similar fix is being looked at.

Bhaskar

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Still is broke. I went as far as reseting everying to default, including my entire oneview environment, and it still does not work. Would HPE be so kind to provide a step by step procedure that has been verified to work?

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Hi
Sorry about this.
Nothing special as procedure to add these. We just used Add Server Hardware and provided the IP address.
It took 6+ minutes to add the DL server Gen6 iLO2 to get added (due to the slower cipher) but did get added.
Tried with 3 different servers.
Our team re-verified this today with the same exact version / build number just to be sure. i.e. 4.10.05-388839.
Can you help here by creating a support case with the support dump from your setup where this failed?
We can then see what has failed with adding these servers in your environment and see what corrective steps need to be put in place (e.g. timeout increase or something else).
So would really help us move forward if any of you running to this can create a support case with the support dump.

Bhaskar

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Hi @BhaskarV ,
Question: Can I create a support case even though we only use "monitoring" (i.e. we don't pay for management)?
I confirm the 6+ minutes, although I use a refresh to do it (I don't want to "lose" the server). Yet, the alarm "Unable to configure SNMP settings on the server iLO, which are required by the appliance for server management." persists.
But once I dared to remove the server from OneView and then actually add the server (the way you do it), it does work. I mean: no locked events.
So the update may yet have fixed my issues though...

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
After updating to OneView 4.10.05, I can now report SUCCESS in adding Gen 6 servers to OneView for monitoring.
Thanks for the response, Bhaskar.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Thanks @mwf369 for trying 4.10.05 out.
Hi @Gamut
Sorry about the delay.
You should be able to get a support case opened as long as you provide the serial number of the server.
As this is a product defect, you can reference this thread.
Let us know if you are running into issues.
From your post I understand you are able to add a server for monitoring (fresh addition) whereas there is a persistent alert related to SNMP on a server/servers that you had already added previously. Do mention this in the case so it gets looked at appropriately.

Bhaskar

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
Did more testing on my end. It seems that I am unable to add servers/ilo2 that are using a 2048 bit cert. So far I have been able to add all servers I have downgraded to a 1024 bit cert.

Re: Adding a G6 with ILO 2 to Oneview 4.1?
reenable TLS1 to support ILO2:
you can issue this REST call to OneView appliance :
GET https://{appl}/rest/security-standards/protocols
To confirm that TLSv1 is disabled.
Then
PUT https://{appl}/rest/security-standards/protocols
Content-Type: application/json
[
{
"type":"ProtocolV1",
"protocolName":"TLSv1",
"enabled":true
},
{
"type":"ProtocolV1",
"protocolName":"TLSv1.1",
"enabled":true
},
{
"type":"ProtocolV1",
"protocolName":"TLSv1.2",
"enabled":true
}
]
Please note that this call will trigger an Oneview Reboot.

Is there a similar solution for HP OneView 6.0? The specified paths do not exist in this version.
