DIMM error turns into Motherboard Replacement

DIMM error turns into Motherboard Replacement

We have a BL460c Gen10 server that had a DIMM go bad on us and when we replaced the DIMM and put it back into the chassis the management processor died.

So from there we couldn't unassign the profile from OneView and had the motherboard replaced. I believe we bypassed OneView management and got the server booted into the OS from SAN boot target and now whenver we reboot this server or move to another bay we have issues in OneView. Is there anyway one could erase the memory of this original motherboard so we don't see UUID errors, Server Hardware is practically "bricked" in OneView.

Opened a ticket with HPe and awaiting for support but thought it would be good to mention this one-off situation where things get worse and worse.

Greetings!
Please confirm if serial number and part number was updated after system board replacement.
Power down the server, remove the server profile profile, reboot to RBSU > Update serial number details
You can't change the UUID, as it is generated from the Serial Number and Part Number of the server.

Re: DIMM error turns into Motherboard Replacement

@PR7

I have confirmed the part number and serial number has been updated.

The problem now is that the server hardware is invalid and the server can not power on when server profile is assigned to it. The server hardware is "greyed out" from the enclosure view and not listed in Server Hardware view. I would think there would be a way to go into the OneView appliances REST API and clear out the old server hardware that was never unassigned in order to resolve this but I haven't heard from support suggesting this yet. They might consider replacing the motherboard again is the latest I've heard. OA shows correct part number and serial number but I have to unassign the profile in order to get through POST. It doesn't boot to OS when unassigned because SAN targets are gone without server profile assigned. It doesn't power on when assigned to server profile..

What do I do now? This is a BL460c Gen10 blade in C7000 chassis running on OneView v6.60.07. I was asked to update the iLO from 3.04 to 3.07 and then gather AHS logs and LE support dump and OA showall.after the iLO upgrade.

Greetings!
Here is the RESTAPI reference guide ( However this operation is only supported on appliances which support rack mounted servers. )
DELETE/rest/server-hardware/{id}

Request you to follow up on the same support ticket already raised on next actions.

Re: DIMM error turns into Motherboard Replacement

We  didnt end up going through the HPE rest API to resolve this and instead replaced the motherboard to resolve. We moved it to another chassis and put it back into production after we upgraded the SPP drivers/firmware and BIOS to most current supported.

Would've loved to resolve it without the motherboard replacement and see if REST API is root cause.. We would need to know how to find the UUID to delete and then delete it.

Greetings!
Could you please share the support ticket details related to this issue?
Once the server is removed from the hardware, OneView will refresh and delete any existing entries for that unit.
When the server is added back, it will receive the same UUID, which is generated from the serial number and product number of that unit.
