Error when attempting to change password on Global Dashboard default administrator account

When logging into the Global Dashboard appliance web interface as the default administrator account and attempting to change the password the error "You are not permitted to change your own role" is givin. However, The role is not being changed, only attempting to change the password of the default administrator account.

To clarify, I'm not talking about the first time setup of the administrator account, the appliacne has been setup and functioning for a while, we just have a need to change the password after a certain ammount of time.

I am aware of the challenge / responce method of changing the password through the management interface, but this appliace is not internet connected, so I'm assuming that method will not work.

Thinking this may be a bug, I was able to reset the password on my OneVeiw appliances, but the Global Dashboard appliance is giving this error.

GD version is: 2.71

Re: Error when attempting to change password on Global Dashboard default administrator account

Hello,

Try the below options, it has to work.

On the Users and Directory Groups page, click the login name.
On the details page that appears on the right, click Edit.
Enter the full name (optional).
If you are changing your password:
Enter your current password in the Current Password field.
Enter a new password in the New Password field.
Type the new password again in the Confirm Password field.
If you are changing the password for another user:
Enter the new password in the Initial Password field.
Enter the new password again in the Confirm Password field.
Select the role: Infrastructure administrator, Operator administrator or Kiosk administrator.
Click OK.

Cheers...

Re: Error when attempting to change password on Global Dashboard default administrator acc

Thnak you for your reply.

What you descirbed is the process that I'm following.

-I log in to the applicacne as the Default appliacne administrator. I select the Default appliance administrator accout and 'edit'.

-Type the current password and the new password 2 times.

-The role selected is "Infrastructure Administrator" and is grayed out and not chageable.

-Click "OK" and recieve error: "You are not permitted to chage your own role"

I know the password is correct because I use that account to log into the appliace in the first place. I tried rebooting and still get the same error. I tried using a differet local accout with the "Infrastructure Administrator" role, but I'm not able to edit the deafault aministrator account with a different acccount. This is a very straightforward process which leads me to beieve there may be a bug in the version of appliance I'm using.

I promise I'm not mistyping any passwords, I've intenitionally mistyped the passwords (old and new) and I recieve a different error when doing so.

Unfortuantely I'm not able to allow remote support or send logs, so I'm probably on my own with this one.

Re: Error when attempting to change password on Global Dashboard default administrator acc

Hello

By any chance do you have any other administrator user account ?

If yes, can you try changing the password for desired user account from the other user and check?

If issue still persists, We would suggest you to raise a support case with hpe for further assistance.

Cheers....
