How to pass through Network Adapter Names
Hi,
in OneView, i can set the names of network adapters like vmnic0, vmnic1 and so on. These adapters have a name and mac address.
How can I pass through these names into vCenter?
So for example vmnic0 has mac address A in OneView, but in vCenter vmnic2 has mac adress A. Why is that? And how can I make sure that network adapter vmnic0 with mac adress A has the same parameters in vCenter physical adapters (vmnic0 mac address A)?
Greetings
Chris

Re: How to pass through Network Adapter Names
Hello Chris,
The network adapter names and MAC addresses in OneView and vCenter may not always match due to the differences in how these systems manage and assign network adapters. OneView and vCenter use different naming conventions and algorithms for assigning adapter names and MAC addresses.
* To ensure that a network adapter in OneView (e.g., vmnic0 with MAC address A) has the same parameters in vCenter (e.g., vmnic0 with MAC address A), you can follow these steps:
* Identify the network adapter in OneView that you want to match in vCenter. Note its name (e.g., vmnic0) and MAC address (e.g., A).
* In vCenter, locate the host or virtual machine where you want to match the network adapter. Access the networking settings for the host or virtual machine.
* Review the existing network adapters in vCenter and find the one that corresponds to the adapter in OneView (e.g., vmnic2 with MAC address A).
* Edit the settings of the network adapter in vCenter (e.g., vmnic2) and modify its name to match the desired name (e.g., vmnic0).
* If needed, modify any other parameters of the network adapter, such as IP settings, VLAN settings, or teaming configurations, to match the desired configuration.
* Save the changes in vCenter.
By modifying the network adapter's name and other settings in vCenter, you can align it with the desired configuration from OneView. Keep in mind that network adapter names and MAC addresses are managed independently by each system, so it's important to manually adjust them in vCenter to achieve consistency with OneView.
