HPE OneView for vCenter Static Routes with Multiple nics.
Hi,
Could someone explain how you configure static routes when using multiple nics with OneView for vCenter.
As example of my config I have the following :-
vCenters on Managment network e.g 10.0.10.0/24
Synergy Composers on OOB network 26.0.10.0/24 and 26.0.11.0/24.
OneView for vCenter first nic connected to 10.010.0/24
OneView for vCenter second nic connected to 26.0.10.0/24.
But when I try to create a connection to OneView from OV4C plugin in vCenter traffic is routing via 10.0.10.0/24 network.
In a standard Linux VM I'd create static routes for 26.0.11.0/24 via 26.0.11.1 but have no way of doing this from OV4C GUI.
Anyone know how I can get traffic to route correctly.
Kind Regards,
Paul

Re: HPE OneView for vCenter Static Routes with Multiple nics.
OV4VC doesn't support multiple vNICs, and has no way to add static routes. I see only a few ways to support this:
- Establish a firewall between the two networks, so that the plugin can access the Synergy Composer management network. In this scenario, the connection is outbound from the plugin, never inbound from the Composer to plugin/appliance. So configuring outbound-NAT should work.
- Reconfigure your Synergy Composer management network so it is part of your 10.0.10.0/24 subnet, and not part of a public IP subnet/range.

Re: HPE OneView for vCenter Static Routes with Multiple nics.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I am a bit confused as documentation for 11.3. States "It is mandatory to configure at least one network during deployment. However, HPE OneView for VMware vCenter allows you to configure up to three networks".
Within the OV4C Administrator GUI you can add addtional Nics and as part of that a task is created the "Creates Static Routes" how it know which to create routes is beyond me.
I have raised an SR waiting on a response
Kind Regards,
Paul

Re: HPE OneView for vCenter Static Routes with Multiple nics.
You can try to create a static route using the command line interface (CLI) of the OneView appliance..
You can refer HPE OneView for VMware vCenter 10.0.1 User Guide for more details
