OneView and ilo licensing

It seems that when we purchased one of our dl380 gen10's we ordered it using a standard BOM which includes a Oneview advanced license, but it seems to have been delivered with a factory burnt ilo advanced license. This wasn't noticed for quite a while and we do not have OneView advanced W/O ilo licences. I have tried removing the license, but as it is factory burned it just wont go away. Is there a way to get one of our available OneView Advanced licenses on to it? We do not have budget to buy what we see as a non-standard license. The person that ordered the server is no longer with the company so I have been unable to locate the purchase order information. to follow up with the supplier and HPE.... HELP!

Re: OneView and ilo licensing

Was the FIO SKU ordered for the OneView Advanced license?  If so, this is by design.  We had customers who wanted to use the iLO Adv license prior to adding their servers to OneView, which would have applied the iLO Adv license then.  When the server is added to an appliance, the embedded OV Adv license is discovered, and we then apply the OV license to the DB.  It removes the activation steps needed in our license portal, then installing the key to the target appliance.

Otherwise, the only way to remove the iLO Adv license is to either factory reset it, or SSH into the iLO and run delete /map1 license.

Re: OneView and ilo licensing

Hi Chris,

As I said I cannot locate the PO so am stuck on what was actually ordered. E5Y43A is included in our standard BOM used for ordering new kit.

BTW I have already tried delete /map1 license and it fails so maybe an ilo factory reset is my only option ...

Hi Christ,

If we do factory reset, is there any relate with warranty void?

Thanks

It's a pleasure to share the technology ideas with all you guys.

No.  Performing a factory reset clears the configuration of the iLO, and does not void an HPE warranty.
