OneView Rack Configuration

I'm trying to setup a Rack in OneView with Apollos installed.  I have 4 Apollos in a Chassis that takes up 2U's (2 Apollos on each U).  The Chassis doesn't connect to the network, so it can't be managed.  How do I add 2 Apollos to a 1U slot in Oneview?

Hello,

You may refer to section "Add a rack" of the OneView user guide and see if it helps.

Re: OneView Rack Configuration

I've gone through the documentation.  This doesn't apply.  Basically, I'm trying to fit 2 devices into a 1U slot in the rack view.  The chassis takes 2U's and has 4 devices/blades, 2 devices per 1U.  OneView recognizes there's 4 blades in a chassis but the rack view doesn't allow me to add 2 devices to a 1U slot.

Re: OneView Rack Configuration

Hello,

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to comment on this as I have had the same issue and have also brought this up in the past. The explaination given in the past was that the chassis doesn't have intelligence built into it like a Synergy frame. However, it wouldn't have to in order to be representitive in a rack view. It would be great if HPE could add that functionality in a future release.

Thank you.

Re: OneView Rack Configuration

Hi,

HPE OneView Appliance is a tool that helps manage HPE hardware like servers, storage, and networking from one place. It automates tasks like setting up servers and keeping firmware up to date, making it easier to manage and monitor your IT infrastructure. You can use it either as a physical device or as software on a virtual machine. It helps save time, reduces mistakes, and makes managing your hardware simpler.
It does not contain any physical hardware to maintain of configure or install.

Re: OneView Rack Configuration

I have no issues with managing the servers in OneView.  This issue is with setting up the visual representation in the Rack view.  The option to set up a Left/Right/Center placement for the servers is there, but it only allows me to select the Center view option.  I have 2 Apollos in a 1U slot, one for the Left side and one for the Right side.

How can I get the Position option to allow me to select Left or Right, not Center.  If that's not an option, then why is the Position view even available?
