OneView updates with SPP's
So i have OnevIew checking for updates, which is great, and i can see iat this time 3 SPP's
Verison
2021.05
2020.09.1
2020.03.2
So the question is, when i used to manually download the SPP there was a Gen10 version which was 2021.04 and then a GEN9+ released on the 2021.05
Does that mean once the GEN9+ one has been released there is no reason to use the GEN10 one. As i'm normally worried that there is updates in that which are more appropriate to the hardware i'm using. Even though it is slightly older?

Re: OneView updates with SPP's
It currently does not list the Gen10-only SPPs. The reason to use a Gen10-only SPP is that it is smaller and also does not require an active contract or warranty to download it. As our firmware releases and features evolve, what is listed with also be adjusted.

Re: OneView updates with SPP's
Hello,
Please do refer the content reports of both the SPPs.
2021.05 version can be used if both, Gen9 and Gen10 servers are available.
Thanks.

Re: OneView updates with SPP's
so you woudln't use the slightly older gen10 only, if the gen9+ comes out a month later? as in this case?
why are the spp's so big, i mean teh gen10 is huge now, and obviously the gen9+ is bigger, but not by much considering its got another platforms updates in it

Re: OneView updates with SPP's
As you saw recently, the Gen9-only SPP was released along with the Gen10/Gen10 Plus SPP. Those two will continue to have their own lifecycle and the combined (larger) SPP was not updated. Some time in the future, just like Gen8, the Gen9 SPP will eventually become the "post-production" firmware bundle. At the present time, there is no plan to continue updating the combined SPP (standard disclaimer; subject to change without notice).
The size is determined by differences among the platforms (and the adapters they support). So, for example, there are new Gen10 Plus adapters and they require all the supported versions of all the OS kits and that is distinct for those adapters supported on Gen10.
Look for future features to evolve to make this less onerous and more selective. In the meantime, a Custom SPP can help reduce the size but takes time to build correctly and test.
