Specify Which License Key to Assign to a Server in OneView

Hello,

I’m using an HPE OneView instance to manage multiple DL rack servers, which are delivered in waves. Each server comes with a license tied to a specific EON number. However, OneView handles all licenses as a shared pool and automatically assigns them on a first-come, first-served basis. This makes it impossible to associate a specific license with its corresponding server.

For example, in wave 1 I received 3 servers, and in wave 2, another 5 of the same model. Due to logistical delays, some servers from wave 1 arrived after wave 2, resulting in licenses being mismatched between the intended hardware.

I’ve explored the REST API and PowerShell modules but couldn’t find any option to specify or control license assignment at the time of server addition — only license utilization reports are available.

Is there a supported method to explicitly assign a specific license to a specific server in OneView, or any recommended best practice to handle this scenario,, or any plans to implement it in a future?

I followed these steps:

Activate the licenses one by one.
Open the license file and copy the last section of the key (25 characters).
Connect to the iLO of the server and go to Administration → Licensing. Paste the copied key into the license key section and apply.
Add the complete license to OneView, and then add the server.
