CD Storage system
I have a 7 cd storage system and find that i get the blue screen every time i boot up my proliant 5000 with the cd system switched on.
When switched off there are no probs.
Once booted i scan for hardware changes and win 2000 server finds each cd one by one and then adds them.
any clues?

Re: CD Storage system
Keith:
Does theCD System do an auto config for SCSI id's? If so, see if you can manually set them. Possibly, the tower is auto configing an id in use before hand and when the server boots, it sees a id conflict and BS's.
In the case that you have no problem adding it to the running system, perhaps the tower is auto configing still, but since the system is already running, it won;t allow the tower to config an id that is already in use so it skips.
Just an idea. Not sure how much you've troubleshot the issue yet. Not even sure how the thing works, but that might be something I would try.

Re: CD Storage system
that does make sense Steven, thanks for that.
I have not set anything to allow auto or manual config of the scsi id's so i guess the default is set to auto.
I do have 1 cd and one cdrw in the proliant tower in addition to the 7 in the storage system.
Also 4 x 9.1 hot swap's
It could be an idea to manually configure them if that is possible as i also have a 12x hot swap storage system u2 to plug in.
Could you advise how i am to manually configure them and also if there are any downsides to doing this?
