IBM Server + Smart Array 6404 compatibility
Hi,
We have some Hp and IBM servers.
And we want to try one Smart array 6404 card on our IBM x346 because we think that those card are very good. We plan to update all our card if it work properly.
One test was done but when it discover the card, there is this error:
Slot 3 HP Smart Array 6400 controller (192MB, V2.34) 0 logical drives
1785 - Slot 3 Drive array not configured
No drives detected
Slot 3 HP Smart Array 6400 EM controller
1783 - Slot 3 Drive array controller failure !
[Command failure (cmd=0h, err=00h, dlu=0CB:4h)]
We want to know if there is an issue for this problem.
Thank

Re: IBM Server + Smart Array 6404 compatibility
From documentation:
"Probable Source of problem:
Bad controller. If this message is displayed after Options ROMPaq is run, problems may have occurred while attempting to flash the ROM.
Action:
Reseat the array accelerator module if detached. Try reseating the controller in the PCI slot. Otherwise, replace the array controller."
From my experience - try change PCI slot and reapply controller firmware.
regards,
Andrzej
