Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

Spare part # 348759-001 is same as option part # 348757-B21
This is a 2 Channel, Low Voltage Differential (LVD), PCI Controller with a throughput of 80MB/sec, 64 bit data width. This card is a 66Mhz card 64-bit PCI bus master card compatible with 32-bit PCI slots and using a Symbios 53C879 chipset. The card will auto detect and communicate with Wide-Ultra2 LVD SCSI, Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Single Ended (SE), Fast-Wide SCSI-2 SE, Fast SCSI-2 SE

Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

I also have two of these cards. Where can I find configuration tools/setup information for them? Are they bootable?
Thank you for any information.

Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

I think it's only 33 MHz/64 bit-PCI and there's a 53C896 on it..
I wasn't able to find documentation on your server: is it possible to connect an external LED? What is/are connector E1 and jumpers E2-E4 good for?

Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

I've got eight of these things- "348759-001" Dual Channel 64-bit Ultra2 (LVD) SCSI Controller.
I got 'em cheap off of eBay and have been messing around w/ one in my PC. I hooked one up to a CD-Rom drive. They work, but the SCSI Bios seems to be missing and they're not bootable. From what I've picked up the BIOS is disabled so it'll work correctly in a Proliant.
I don't know what the jumpers do, but I can tell you that none of the 16 possible combinations (4 jumpers) will cause a controller bios to magically appear.
Anyone know if it's possible to flash the roms on these things to make them bootable in a "normal" PC? And no, I don't care if it's an unsupported trick or something that might wreck the card.

These controllers are NOT bootable.

Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

I heard that this card might only work in the compaq server it came out of or was designed for because the support rom is in the server's bios not on the card. Not possitive about this but I'm begining to think this is so.

Re: Scsi Interface controller Identification

According to your help forum (this thread) "Spare part # 348759-001 is same as option part # 348757-B21".
According to your technical specifications (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ProLiantdl380/options.html) "64-Bit Dual Channel Wide Ultra2 SCSI Adapter 348757-B21" is an option part for the DL380.
However when I attempted to install the 348759-001 into the DL380 it was obvious that the parts were incompatible.
1) please correct your forum site
2) is 348757-B21 in fact the correct part for us to install in the DL380 to add 64-bit Dual Channel Wide Ultra2 SCSI ports?
