1Gb NIC for Simplivity Federation network on 3rd node in a different cluster
Hi,
I have a scenario in which we have 2 Simplivity node cluster. We are planning to add 3rd Simplivity node, which will be physically located on a different location, and will be in a separate cluster. This node will be used for remote backup target for Simplivity Backup.
We are limited with 1Gb connection on that site. I know that 10Gb network is preferred for Simplivity federation, but can I use 1Gb NICs for Simplivity federation (storage & federation) network ? As I said, 3rd node will mainly be used for remote backup target, and will run a few non-critical VMs.

Re: 1Gb NIC for Simplivity Federation network on 3rd node in a different cluster
@B0ris , since the 3rd node will be in a cluster of its own, there is no physical 10GB connectivity required for federation and storage. All fed traffic between the clusters will be sent over the management interface/network. Storage traffic on the single node cluster will occur internally over the vSwitch.

Re: 1Gb NIC for Simplivity Federation network on 3rd node in a different cluster
Hi
actually your comunication between sites will be through managment network
but you must have a 10GB card in your system for the installation.
after that you can connect it to a 1GB network.
