Backu/Replication bandwith throttling
Hi,
I have a simplivity federation of 7 clusters (each on a different site) with 2 node each.
2 sites are the "Mains" ones and I need to backup all VM of other sites to them.
Some of the 5 others sites have slow Wan link and I want to avoid saturate them (specially for the first backup), and i'm looking for the best way to do it.
I understand that replication traffic goes throught federation or management network, so at first I thought i would do bandwith throttling on it at ESX level. In our infra, federation network is routed between every site so simplivity should use this one.
But i think that if I do that on federation network, it will impact communication between 2 nodes inside the same cluster (same site). Am I correct?
Even if I was doing it on management network, it would impact the speed of 3rd party backup (veeam), so that doesn't work.
I guess best is to do the throttling at network level, routers between sites.
Limitations should be put between OVC federation IPs, right?
What TCP/UDP ports are used for replication?
Or am I totally wrong on the way to do it?
Thanks
