HPE FlexFabric 554FLB (BL460c Gen8) not clearing inherited VC configuration after NVRAM +

Hello,

I am working with an HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen8 blade equipped with a FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLB adapter.
This blade was previously connected to an enclosure with Virtual Connect, and after moving it to another enclosure without VC, the NIC still shows inherited profiles (interfaces, VLANs, iSCSI Boot settings).

What I have already tried:

Cleared NVRAM using the System Maintenance Switch (S6).

Reset the enclosure bay switch from OA.

Accessed the adapter setup (Ctrl+E / Ctrl+S) and performed a factory defaults reset.

Upgraded the NIC firmware to the latest available version from HPE.

Even after all these steps, the adapter continues to present the inherited configuration.

Question:
Is there a way to completely wipe/clear the 554FLB EEPROM so it no longer keeps any Virtual Connect profiles?
Could it be necessary to use a special tool or low-level reflash procedure beyond firmware upgrade and factory reset?

Any official documentation or step-by-step procedure would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Hi @carlostorres

Based on your description provided, I believe you cannot fully wipe the 554FLB EEPROM through standard firmware upgrades or factory resets alone. The 554FLB retains Virtual Connect profile data in its EEPROM, and clearing that may require low-level reprogramming or specialized tools.

In my opinion, there’s no public HPE tool that explicitly wipes the EEPROM of the 554FLB adapter. However, some internal HPE support teams may use diagnostic utilities.

You may need to open a support case with HPE to request a deeper-level reflash or EEPROM clear.
